ADHD Testing & Assessment

Clear answers. Practical direction. A plan that actually makes sense.

When symptoms feel confusing, overlapping, or hard to explain, psychological testing can help bring clarity.

At 3Rivers Therapists, we provide focused ADHD testing for adults and children ages 8+ to help you better understand attention, focus, and executive functioning challenges—and guide clear, informed next steps.

Psychological Testing for Adults

ADHD testing for adults can be especially helpful when challenges have been long-standing or difficult to fully understand through therapy alone.

Testing for adults may help clarify concerns related to:

  • Attention, focus, and executive functioning

  • Organization, follow-through, and time management

  • Mental overwhelm or difficulty prioritizing

  • Emotional regulation or frustration tolerance

  • Limited progress in therapy and a need for more targeted insight

  • Workplace or academic accommodations

  • Understanding long-standing patterns that impact relationships or work

Our adult ADHD assessments are focused and efficient, designed to provide clarity without the need for a full comprehensive psychological evaluation.

Psychological Testing for Children (Ages 8+)

For children, ADHD testing can help parents and caregivers better understand why a child may be struggling—and what supports will actually help.

Testing for children ages 8+ may be appropriate when there are concerns about:

  • Attention, focus, or impulsivity

  • Executive functioning skills (organization, planning, memory)

  • Behavioral challenges at home or school

  • Difficulty following directions or completing tasks

  • A need for documentation to support school accommodations

Our child assessments are developmentally appropriate, supportive, and focused on both strengths and areas of need.

What Our Testing Includes

Our evaluations use a whole-person approach, often combining:

  • Attention and executive functioning testing

  • Cognitive screening (as it relates to attention and processing)

  • Behavioral and rating scales (parent, teacher, and/or self-report)

We integrate testing data with interviews, history, and rating scales to provide clear diagnoses and practical recommendations.

Our Testing Process

  1. Intake & Screening
Background information and screening measures help determine whether testing is appropriate.

  2. In-Person Testing
Testing is completed over one or more appointments (typically 2–4 hours total).

  3. Focused Report
You receive a clear, concise written report with findings and recommendations

  4. Feedback Session
Results are reviewed together, with clear recommendations and next steps.

Insurance & Cost

Insurance is accepted for ADHD testing. Coverage varies by plan, and some plans require pre-authorization. You’ll receive a cost estimate before testing begins, and billing details are reviewed clearly during intake.

Ready for Clarity?

If you’re feeling stuck, unsure, or overwhelmed by unanswered questions, ADHD testing can help provide direction and relief.

You don’t have to keep guessing. We’ll help you understand what’s going on and what support will be most helpful.
